EVEN STEVENS FOR BIG HITTERS IN ULSTER
A win and a second apiece for Adam Fleetwood and Graeme Wight Jnr at Craigantlet leaves Adam Fleetwood still 9 points ahead of the reigning champion with four weekends – eight rounds – still in play. It is certainly shaping up to be one of the closest championships for many a year...
In Ulster over the Craigantlet course, the record was previously 41.12 from David Grace, which was beaten by Jnr on the first run and then Fleetwood on the second to claim a bonus point. Jnr equalled the record in the afternoon, not quite good enough to gain an extra point...
Roger Fleetwood had an excellent day with two third places, whilst Roger Moran had a 5th and a 4th. Tim Mason had a bad weekend with a 4th and a fail. That will hurt his charge to the top of the championship table, particularly if the leading two push each other so hard that one of them goes off.
Willem Toet scored some very healthy points with a fifth and a seventh, whilst Mark Harrison scored his first ever British Hill Climb points.
The next round of the Championship is at Shelsley Walsh on SATURDAY 16th August as part of the MAC’s 3 Day Festival of Hill Climbing at the Worcestershire hill.
