JUNIOR WINS BEFORE THE FOG OUT

Graeme Wight Junior went a long way to get what he thought would be 20 points at Craigantlet in Ulster only to return with 10 points after the second run off was cancelled due to fog making driving conditions impossible. With only five of the championship regulars present in a field of only ten registered runners for the championship, it meant that with the local contingent doing their usual sterling job of beating the regulars there were some healthy points up for grabs, but alas with the loss of the second set of points, they were not awarded.

Roger Moran netted 2nd with Deryk Young nearly a second back in 3rd. Beattie headed the locals but 6th 9th was very close indeed with just 0.14 covering four runners.

An unbelievable set of circumstances for the cancellation, but with the weather that has descended over the UK at the moment, entirely normal, even though we are in the middle of the summer. Graeme Wight (Snr) drove to the top of the hill in his second class run and went quickly through the mirk to record a time not far off a minute such was the lack of vision. Championship officials conferred and the decision was made to cancel the second run off.

The Championship has a week off before we get into the last four being Shelsley, Gurston, Prescott and Doune. Stay tuned.
